We are excited to announce our newest listing located at 2202 Adams Ave. in Ogden. This home was renovated in 2015 and given another 100 years of life. Watch the video montage of interior photos and learn some fun facts about the original owner of the home.
The Weber Heritage Foundation also did some research on the original owner of this home. Here is her bio:
In the early 1900’s this Weber County home belonged to Carolyn “Callie” Edith Cave. Callie was born in 1854 in Ohio, married her husband, Samuel, in 1873 and their only child, Albert, was born a few years later.
Callie and Samuel only lived together in this home for two short years, as Samuel passed away in 1909 after an abdominal operation. Callie had a strong and independent spirit and thank goodness for it, since the next 10 years brought its fair share of rewards and challenges.
Callie was a member of Ogden’s Queen Esther Chapter No. 4, Order of the Eastern Star, serving as Secretary for many years. She was active in politics, acting as a registration agent and opening her house as a polling station for almost every election in Weber County starting in 1900-1919. She was Grand Lady of Honor for Ogden’s women’s auxiliary of the Ancient Order of United Workman, and a member of the Grand Lodge if the Ladies Society of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Firemen & Enginemen.
After her husband’s death Callie took in boarders to make ends meet. In 1910, she helped nab a burglar who had entered her home and had taken clothing and jewelry from her tenants. In 1914 she was struck by lightning, but fortunately made a full recovery. In 1916, and again in 1917, she suffered a severe attack of pneumonia that lasted almost two weeks. Finally in 1919, at the age of 65, Callie moved to California. She passed away in 1937 at the age of 83.
