OGDEN RISING: Marshall White Center and YCC Apartments

The Ogden Planning Commission has been busy hearing about proposed developments in Ogden City.  Two big projects stand out.

THE MARSHALL WHITE CENTER

In what has become one of the biggest political footballs in Ogden City since the pool failed at the existing MWC, it appears we will finally be nearing some closure on this contentious issue.  A developer has made a proposal to the commission to construct a massive modern structure to replace the ailing facility at 28th and Lincoln Ave.

The proposed facility will host a long list of sports and activities.

Let’s hope the community can have some unity now that design work and preparations are now in motion.

YCC APARTMENTS

The YCC (Your Community Connection) domestic violence shelter, located at 23rd and Adams Ave., expanded its building back in 2015.  Yet, the demand for space at the facility has sadly outpaced supply.  The commission recently heard plans to develop a 14 unit apartment complex behind the facility adjacent to the Tower View Apartments.

The construction would require the removal to two older buildings and a new parking spaced would be added to accommodate the new apartments.  This is a massive undertaking for the local shelter and will hopefully provide the space needed to shelter vulnerable women and children in our community.
