INFERNO: Fire Claims One of Ogden’s Oldest Standing Homes

2539 Adams Avenue has served as a rental property for many decades.  Prior to its repurposing as a multi-unit property, the home served as a home to a family constructed in 1882.  As such, it is, or was, one of the oldest structures still standing in the city.  Only a handful of adobe buildings in the city predate this structure.

This afternoon, the building caught fire and the flames tore through the attic and upper floor of the building.  Given the water and fire damage to the building, it appears highly likely that building will need to be demolished.  It is a sad loss.

We will watch to see what happens.   This fire is reminiscent of the horrible Eccles Mansion fire in 2016.
