Work has already been underway but it was formally announced recently what big plans Snowbasin has in their future.   Among parking expansion and lift improvements, the resort plans a major 300 bed hotel along with a new village at Earl’s Lodge.   While Ogden Valley residents are extremely sensitive to new developments, Snowbasin appears to have the public in mind while formulating its growth.  Meanwhile, look for some exciting developments happening at one of Utah’s best kept secrets (for now).  

While our basement project has been ongoing for nearly 4 years now, we took a small detour to restore and rejuvenate a sleeping porch which is cantilevered to the second story of our home.  Watch as we demolish, mill custom woodwork in our back yard, and reconstruct the space to look amazing. Ogden residents mourned this morning after hearing of the loss of community landmark and historic business Topper Bakery. Around 10:30 last night our family smelled smoke and went outside to discover the source. While we didn’t see anything unusual, what we didn’t realize was that a few blocks away the cherished Topper Bakery building was burning. Their donuts, orange rolls, and dinner rolls will be missed while they regroup and/or rebuild. Hats off to Topper Bakery! (Fire photo courtesy KSL)

A new proposal is on the table by a developer to convert the vacant lot near the corner of 18th and Washington Blvd. into a large townhouse project.  A recent meeting with the planning commission highlighted some of the proposed details.   The proposed scope of the project would be between Kiesel Ave and Washington Ave. and bounded by the Mountain America Credit Union owned lot near 18th St. on the north and the Ogden River on the south.  A total of 41 units are proposed. We recently completed the lockout of a tenant who abused the eviction moratorium to avoid removal from the property. This particular tenant had unwelcome guests at the property as well as trash and other lease violations.  The eviction moratorium (and head fakes from authorities about its end date) kept us in the lurch while trying to evict them.  Finally, we were able to get them out after filing a complaint based on trash accumulating at the property. The last week of June saw a tragic loss of property on the 300 block of 28th Street. After fire fighters extingquished a blaze in the afternoon at 29th and Washington Blvd. another fire was started at massive apartment building under construction on 28th Street. The building was nearly finished begin framed at the time the blaze started.
